Big decisions about college loom for Summer Science Program students, all of whom are rising high school seniors or juniors. SSP helps them choose a college, choose a major, get accepted into college, and succeed in college. [ see comments ]

Over the decades, SSP alumni have distinguished themselves at colleges and universities around the world. During the past 10 years, alumni have most frequently attended these schools:

• Harvard University
• Massachusetts Institute of Technology
• Stanford University
• University of California

During the Program, students have ample opportunity to discuss the pros & cons of various colleges attended by SSP faculty, visiting alumni, and guest speakers, and get their first-hand advice on choosing a college. A "College Roundtable" is also held for a more structured discussion of how to approach this important decision. After returning home, recent alumni often cite their astronomical research experience at SSP on their college applications. Many also ask our faculty to write a recommendation on their behalf.
